Metaplanet failed to issue preferred shares in Japan and subsequently took over a U.S. company to issue them there. This move allows the firm to access a specific capital pool. Strategy and Strive are currently competing for this same pool of capital. The acquisition relates directly to the financial instruments these companies utilize to secure funding.

STRC was one of the biggest IPOs of 2025 and issued a preferred stock as part of that offering. Strive offers a fixed 15% junior preferred rate, while SATA offers a variable-rate preferred. A preferred trading above par adds to net Bitcoin per share. Allard Peng explains the implications of Metaplanet's move to access this capital pool. The action could be accretive to common shareholders, though uncertainty remains regarding how Metaplanet supports its U.S. subsidiary.

Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $1 billion in three sessions while the price stalled under $85K. Bitcoin Treasury Preferreds crashed in June due to leveraged looping unwinds. Elon Musk, Tesla, and SpaceX are associated with Bitcoin holdings. The broader discussion includes whether small businesses should hold Bitcoin.
