The Boox Palma 2 Pro is a compact e-reader designed for users who prefer small E Ink displays. The device costs $400 and weighs 175 grams. It runs Android and supports Google Play, allowing for a broader range of applications than typical e-readers. A reviewer tested the unit for two months and found it comfortable to hold while lying on their side at night.

The hardware includes a front-lit screen with cool and warm lighting options that can be dimmed to an exceptionally low level. A rear camera is available for scanning documents, and a built-in speaker allows for audio playback without headphones. The device features a hybrid SIM slot for cellular data connectivity. It is also compatible with a stylus for taking notes and marking up PDFs, although the reviewer did not receive a stylus with their review unit.

One notable issue is ghosting, where text from a previous page lingers on the screen. A refresh button in the navigation bar clears this artifact. Boox is launching a non-Pro Palma 3 soon for $340.
