Apple Unveils New iPad Mini With OLED Display
Apple announced a new iPad mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED screen and A20 Pro chip, with preorders opening October 28.
Apple announced a new iPad mini on Monday, days before its 'Pro and Tell' event scheduled for Wednesday. The device features an 8.5-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits and a 2 million:1 contrast ratio. Apple says the tablet is ideal for dim-light environments. The new iPad mini has a thinner and lighter design than its predecessor, measuring 5.4 mm in thickness. It includes a nano-texture display option that reduces glare and an 'Acoustic Display' with woofers integrated into the screen.
The tablet is powered by an A20 Pro chip, which Apple states delivers up to 4.5-times faster AI performance than the previous generation. The chip features a 6-core CPU providing up to 60% faster multithreaded performance. The device supports fast-charge and offers faster wireless and cellular connectivity. It also includes a 12-megapixel center stage front camera and launches with the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
The Wi-Fi model starts at $699, while the Wi-Fi and cellular model starts at $849. The new iPad mini can be preordered on October 28, with availability beginning November 6.
