Xreal unveiled the Aura wired smart glasses at the Android Dev Summit on Wednesday. The device runs on the Android XR and Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite platforms. It connects to a smartphone-like unit for processing power rather than handling computing internally. The glasses feature a Sony Micro-OLED display with 1200p resolution at 120 Hz and a 95-degree field of view. The device weighs 95 grams and uses Bose technology for audio. Gemini is available as a Q&A assistant. Users can plug a computer or handheld gaming console directly into the device via USB-C.

The Aura supports Google Play apps and games, including the NBA App for Android XR, Nevatars, Fallout: Factions, and Project Hail Mary. It will launch with over 150 made-for-XR experiences. The 12GB + 256GB version costs $1,279, with a limited launch price of $1,099 through December. The 16GB + 512GB version is priced at $1,499, with a launch price of $1,299 through December. Xreal will automatically refund the price difference to customers who preordered at the original price.

The glasses are available to order in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Xreal plans to start shipping the device by mid-November. Xreal CEO Chi Xu stated in May that building a smart glass business is hard and everyone is losing money.
