Playable F-Stop Portal Prequel Leaked
A fully playable version of the canceled Portal prequel F-Stop has been leaked after missing code and map data were recovered.
A fully playable version of the canceled Portal prequel F-Stop has been leaked. Leakers assembled the game using assets from a massive leak that occurred in August. That initial leak did not include F-Stop's source code or map data. This week, the source code and map data were found in the Valve Cut Content Discord. The combination of these leaked assets and code allowed a nearly complete version of F-Stop to be assembled.
F-Stop was canceled nearly 20 years ago. It was developed during a three-month period in 2007 known as Directed Design Experiments. During this time, Valve broke into five teams to build new video game experiments. The game features a camera mechanic where players capture items by taking pictures to place them elsewhere using Polaroid-like photos. The full campaign is under an hour long. Some dialog and elements from F-Stop were eventually included in Portal 2.
