OpenAI is offering discounts of up to 90 percent to attract Anthropic’s largest customers. Several companies are shifting their AI spending to OpenAI as a result. Rippling, Replit, and DataCamp are among the firms moving their workloads to the new provider.

Rippling CEO Parker Conrad stated that his company increased OpenAI’s share of its coding workload from 16 to 52 percent. During the same period, Anthropic’s share of that workload dropped from 57 to 18 percent. Replit switched providers after OpenAI offered more than 30 percent off a contract worth over $100 million a year. DataCamp CEO Jonathan Cornelissen reported that OpenAI’s pricing cut his costs by 80 to 90 percent.

A US bank with more than $7 billion in assets doubled its ChatGPT seats to 500 employees at no extra charge. The bank pays under $7 per user instead of the usual $20 or more. OpenAI is partly buying market share at the expense of its own margins. The company has achieved real price cuts through its Sol and Luna model lines thanks to more efficient models and infrastructure.

Anthropic’s growth slowed from Q2 to Q3, according to an investor memo. Both companies face growing price pressure from China, where new models by Deepseek and Kimi deliver comparable performance for a fraction of the cost.
